Just asking, you know, most spinach dishes are not that extreme with flavor. They’re paired with garlic and maybe salt and broth but have you had anything with spinach that’s sour or spicy?

I don’t know if Saag Paneer is spicy.. there’s also other kinds of curry with spinach in it, but a really spicy one, I have nothing that comes to mind.

Spinach has a lot of iron right? Perhaps - hmm - what other foods with high iron are there that are spicy? Broccoli? I haven’t seen a spicy dish with broccoli either. I wonder if ancient gastronomers knew something about iron content losing it’s effect when it’s fermented, pickled or spiced up like that?

Like some kind of fusion that actually becomes detrimental to nutrition and health? Something to the effect of those Chinese superstitions or rules of proper vegetable pairing / etiquette? Where, if you place two foods of some unlawful degree of hot or cold chi together, the dish becomes unbalanced. My mother would refer to that and say it’s bad chi. My father would refer to that and say, it becomes poisonous through chemical reaction. Tofu and eggplant was it? Too much chi poison.

This is puzzling indeed, I guess I’m on the lookout now for spinach dishes that are spicy. If you know any, please drop me a message. I would love to know that something like that exists.

For the moment though, I will continue to dance with this shadow on the wall.
